A Keeper's Guide
Welcome, Keeper. The sky islands are waiting — drifting between clouds, dotted with wild herbs, half-built cottages, and the soft light of other players' lanterns. Everything you need to find your footing in your first hours.
Welcome to Mietshu
Mietshu is a cozy multiplayer pixel-art world set on a chain of floating islands. You are a Keeper: a settler, gatherer, crafter, and adventurer all at once. There is no rush. You can spend a morning chopping wood by a quiet pond, an afternoon hunting a cavern boss with friends, and an evening decorating the home you claimed from the wilds.
Your first steps
- Open the site and click Enter Mietshu in the top-right.
- Register an account, or pick Play as Guest if the server allows it. Your username is visible to other Keepers.
- You spawn on Tutorial Island — a small starter map with NPCs, a plaza, and your first few quest-givers. Wander, click on anything that catches your eye, talk to every NPC at least once.
- New keepers spawn with a bronze hatchet and a bronze pickaxe in the inventory. Equip them and you can chop trees and break ore veins immediately.

Skills
Mietshu has ten hand-tuned skills. They level by use — chop trees and woodcutting goes up; cast a heal and combat goes up. Press S in-game to open the Skills panel.
Gathering & crafting
Resource nodes are scattered everywhere — oak/pine/willow trees, copper/iron/gold ore veins, herb patches, berry bushes, fishing spots and more. Walk up, left-click, and your Keeper will work the node as long as you have the right tool equipped. Once your bag has materials, press C to open the Crafting panel — the right station nearby (anvil, stove, loom, sawmill, drafting table) unlocks the matching recipe family.
Building your home
Every Keeper has a personal room. Place walls, floors, doors, and furniture from your inventory; walls auto-resolve their corners as you go. Use R / Shift+R to rotate items while placing. The Architecture meta-skill levels up as you build, unlocking bigger expansions over time. Friends can visit, and you decide who else can edit.
Combat & magic
Creatures roam the wild islands and lurk in caverns. Equip a weapon from the Equipment panel (O), then left-click an enemy to engage. Sword / staff / bow each have their own rhythm — some bosses change weakness mid-fight, so packing two weapon types pays off.
Magic comes in two flavours: combat spells (Wind Bolt, Frost Shard, Flame Strike, Spirit Heal, Wind Gust, Arcane Blast) are cast by right-clicking a target and picking from the SpellPicker — they cost runes from your bag. Teleport spells live in the Magic Book (B) and whisk you between worlds without walking.
Quests & achievements
NPCs offer quests that walk you through the world's systems and its lore. Track active quests in the journal (J). The flagship five-part chain right now is The Listening Vein, which ends with a tier-3 boss fight against the Resonant Warden. Long-term goals live in achievements (Y); many of them unlock titles and rare materials.
Playing with others
Press Enter to chat. Walk up to another Keeper and right-click for the social menu — currently Trade, Inspect, and Wave. Trade is direct: both sides place items + coins, both confirm, swap happens. Mail and parties also work; group up for the boss islands.
Tips for new Keepers
- Don't sell your bronze tools — they're free to start with and slow to buy back.
- Hoard herbs early. Cooked food and potions become essential the moment you start fighting.
- Park rare drops (twilight berry, resonant herb, glow cap) — every one of them has a recipe attached.
- Talk to every NPC on Tutorial Island at least once. Some quest chains aren't surfaced on the minimap.
- Press V to swap between the surface and the cavern layer — caves are where the better ores live.
- If a key seems to do nothing, a panel might already be open behind something — try Esc first.
- Bring friends to bosses. The Resonant Warden in particular shifts elemental weakness mid-fight and is much easier in a party.
